Huitt Wins Platform at Auburn Diving Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. - Mizzou freshman diver Maddie Huitt (Gibsonia, Pa.) won the women's platform title to highlight Wednesday action at the Auburn Diving Invitational in Auburn, Ala. Freshman Leonardo Garcia Varela (Cali, Colombia) also nabbed a top three finish as he took third on men's 3-meter springboard.
TOP TIGERS
Huitt won her second event title of the season with the women's platform crown on Wednesday. The freshman tallied a five-round total of 268.35, just over three points ahead of the second-place finisher. Huitt also won the platform at last month's Mizzou Invitational.
Sophomore Sarah Rousseau (Melbourne, Fla.) took fifth with 241.25 points, and freshman Savana Trueb (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was 14th with 201.2 points)
Garcia Varela claimed his third on men's 3-meter, where he went for 389.95 points in the final, a 20-point improvement from his prelims tally. Sophomore Ike Khamis (Richmond, Ind.) placed eighth with 318.85 points, and freshman Carlo Lopez (Edmonton, Alberta) took 12th with 281.1 points.
