COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior Sarah Luebbert's (Jefferson City, Mo.) first-half goal was not enough for Mizzou Soccer (6-4-1, 0-2-1 SEC) as the Tigers fell 5-1 to the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.
ON TAP THIS WEEK
- Trailing 2-1 at the half, the Tiger's offense kept up the pressure, receiving a game-tying penalty kick opportunity. Luebbert was unable to convert on the attempt for just her first PK miss of the season.
- Following the penalty, Georgia's (5-4-2, 1-1-1 SEC) offense proved to be too much as the Bulldogs netted three second half goals to put the match out of reach.
ON TAP THIS WEEK
- First of all, I think Georgia played harder than we did," head coach Bryan Blitz said. "They were more physical with 14 fouls to seven. That's always not a great recipe to get the win.
- "I saw Zoe (Cross) get the ball from Madison Lewis, and I just tried to make sure I was onside. She played me a great ball," said Sarah Luebbert of her first-half goal.
ON TAP THIS WEEK
- The Tigers are now 5-2-1 all time in eight matches against the Bulldogs.
- Sarah Luebbert's first-half goal moves her into a tie for eight on the Mizzou Soccer record book with 27 career goals.
- Luebbert now has 16 points on the season.
- The Tigers have the second most saves in the Southeastern Conference with 55.
ON TAP THIS WEEK
- Sarah Luebbert scored her sixth goal of the season tying her for fourth in the SEC.
- Zoe Cross recorded her second assist of the season. Cross earned her first start of the season after redshirting due to injury in 2018.
