Mizzou’s Goldin and Vazquez earn a ranked win in doubles play

COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 41 Mizzou Tennis (13-9, 1-6 SEC) dropped a match to No. 39 South Carolina (6-9, 3-5 SEC), 4-1, on Sunday afternoon in Columbia, S.C. Mizzou picked up two wins on the day, one each in singles and doubles play.

DOUBLES

Florida took the doubles point after picking up victories on court one and three. On court two, the Mizzou duo of senior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Valentina Vazquez Pongruber (Santiago, Chile) earned a ranked win over the No. 20-ranked team of Silvia Chinellato and Emma Shelton, 6-2.

SINGLES

In singles play, Florida clinched the match following wins on courts one, two and four. Senior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) picked up a win for the Tigers in singles play, as she defeated Silvia Chinellato, 6-2, 6-1.

Mizzou returns home to face Saint Louis on Thursday, March 18. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. CT at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
