
Swimming and Diving Drops Home-Opening Dual With Purdue

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Despite a balanced performance that included 12 overall victories, University of Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving dropped a closely contested dual to Purdue in their 2024-25 home-opening meet at Mizzou Aquatic Center Friday.
The Boilermaker women defeated the No. 25 Tigers, 161-139, and the Purdue men edged Mizzou by a score of 151-149. The MU men and women evenly split their 12 golds with six wins apiece on the day.
The Tigers relays found success, contributing to three of Mizzou's event wins. The men's 400 free relay team consisting of Philipp Peschke, Grant Bochenski, Luke Nebrich and Francois Malherbe posted a time of 2:56.18 to claim gold. Bochenski and Nebrich helped the Tigers to a win in the 200 medley relay as well, while the Mizzou women's 200 medley team of Sydney Bales, Karolina Bank, Grace Hanson and Francesca Smith secured a victory with a time of 1:40.89.
Bank, who secured a trio of wins in the Tigers' season-opening victory at Arkansas on Oct. 12, continued her early-season dominance in the pool, bringing home two wins in individual events against Purdue. She captured gold in the 100 breast (1:02.43) and 200 breast (2:16.92), in addition to her victory as part of the 200 medley relay team.
NOTABLE RESULTS
- Jan Zubik took home wins in the men's 200 fly (1:44.46) and the 200 back (1:47.20).
- Abbey Taute brought home her second-straight win in the 200 back, finishing in 1:59.31.
- The women's 1000 free went to Zoe Schneider, who swam a 9:59.73.
- In addition to his two relay victories, Bochenski claimed the men's 100 back with a swim of 48.99.
- Taylor Williams also notched her second win of the season, claiming the women's 200 fly in 2:01.28.
- Collier Dyer earned his first win of the season in 1-meter diving with a 356.03 score.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will host Texas A&M at Mizzou Aquatic Center on Friday, November 1 at 10 a.m. Fans are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, and candy will be passed out at the entrance.
