
Soccer Primed for Road Battle at Tennessee

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer will travel to face Tennessee at 6 p.m. CT on Friday. The match will be available to be streamed live on SECN+.
Missouri (3-6-2, 1-2-1 SEC) is coming off a 2-0 win over Florida on Sunday evening.
The Tigers took the early lead against the Gators with a pair of goals from junior forward Kylee Simmons and sophomore midfielder Olivia Chianelli.
For Chianelli, the goal marked her first of the season and the second of her career.
Simmons converted a penalty kick for her third goal of the season, the forward is now tied with senior midfielder Milena Fischer for the team lead with a trio of scores this season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Phillips put together a standout performance in the win. Phillips made nine saves in the shutout, marking the most by a Tigers' keeper in a win since Oct. 26, 2017.
For Phillips, it was her fourth consecutive start and fifth appearance on the season.
Missouri is getting significant production this season from its 2024 freshman class.
Freshman midfielder Landis Canada has started every game this season for the Tigers while freshman Emily Derucki has started five-consecutive contests and has played 518 minutes on the year.
Freshman defender Callaway Combs made her first career start and earned her first collegiate assist against the Gators.
Tennessee (6-1-3, 1-0-2 SEC) enters Friday after a postponed game against Florida and a tie against Vanderbilt in Knoxville on Sunday.
Sophomore Kameron Simmonds leads the team with eight goals and three assists on the season.
The Lady Volunteers are coached by Joe Kirt who is in his 3rd season as head coach with an overall record of 20-13-6 (10-6-4 SEC).
He led Tennessee to the 2022 SEC Eastern Division Title and has made it to the NCAA tournament both of his years on Rocky Top.
Friday will mark the 12th meeting between the two teams with the Volunteers holding a 9-2-1 series lead. Tennessee won the last meeting 3-2 on October 19, 2023.
