Mizzou women's basketball will face North Alabama at noon on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+ and the Tiger Radio Network.
Mizzou (10-3, 0-0) enters the contest following a commanding victory at Saint Louis last Sunday.
Utilizing a balanced attack in the victory, four or more Tigers scored in double figures for the ninth time this season.
Junior guard Grace Slaughter, sophomore guard Chloe Sotell and junior guard Shannon Dowell all led the way against the Billikens with 16 points.
Defensively, Mizzou notched 11 steals against the Billikens, the most since they recorded 11 on Dec. 29, 2024.
In her first season at the helm, head coach Kellie Harper is off to the best start by a coach in their debut season in program history.
Spearheading the offense in the early campaign, Dowell and Grace Slaughter became the first Mizzou duo to score in double figures in the first 11 games of a season in program history.
Slaughter and Dowell rank fifth and 12th in the SEC with 18.9 and 16.4 points per game this season.
The Tigers have garnered excellent free-throw shooting this season. Mizzou made its first eight free throws against Illinois, which marked 31 consecutive attempts at the line dating back to the win over Cal on Dec. 4. This is the most consecutive made free throws for Mizzou dating back to the 2000-01 season.
Overall, Mizzou ranks 10th in the country and first in the SEC in free-throw percentage at 80.6%.
Individually, Dowell ranks sixth in the country and first in the SEC with 84 free throw attempts this season.
Converting from long range, Mizzou ranks 12th in the country and third in the conference in 3-point percentage at 39.0%
Closing games late, Mizzou has outscored its opponents by 45 points in the fourth quarter this season.
North Alabama comes into Sunday at 5-5 following a loss to Alabama A&M on Wednesday.
The Lions are guided by Candi Whitaker, who is in her second season on the sidelines with an 18-22 record. Whitaker has several ties to Missouri; she led Missouri Western for five seasons (2019-24) and Kansas City for six seasons (2006-12).
Former Tigers' guard Haley Troup, the all-time leader in games played for Mizzou, was a member of Whitaker's staff a year ago.
The Lions are led by redshirt senior guard Alexsandra Alvarado and sophomore guard Sofia Ceppellotti, who average 11.7 and 11.6 points per game, respectively.
The game will serve as Holliday Hoops as Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance and read a halftime Christmas story. Fans are encouraged to wear their best holiday sweater to participate in an ugly sweater contest. In addition, spectators are encouraged to bring a gift to participate in the annual toy drive benefiting Toys For Tots. The first fans in attendance will receive a Truman on a Shelf.
