
No. 21 Mizzou Volleyball Falls to No. 2 Texas in Gregory Gym

No. 21 Mizzou Volleyball (8-5) dropped its match to No. 2 Texas (11-0), 3-0, on Friday, Sept. 26, at Gregory Gym.
The Tigers fall to 0-4 in ranked matchups, as they are now 3-4 in road games this season.
KEY PLAYERS

Senior Caylen Alexander led the Tigers in kills with 17 on a .385 hitting percentage.

Junior Marina Crownover marked a team-high 28 assists.

Freshman Maca Lobaglio earned a team-high five blocks while Senior Regan Haith, Senior Tyrah Ariail and Alexander earned 4 a piece.

Senior Maya Sands posted a team-high 7 digs.
FIRST SET (25-19, Texas leads 1-0)
The set started out with both teams trading points, before the Longhorns took an early 11-5 lead. The Tigers rallied off three-straight points to bring the Longhorn lead to three, highlighted by two aces by Caylen Alexander.
The set continued to go back-and-forth with the teams trading points, the Tigers rallied three consecutive points to cut the Longhorn lead to two, 19-17.
Texas went on to take the advantage after the first set, winning 25-19.
SECOND SET (26-24, Texas leads 2-0)
The set began similarly to the previous one, the Longhorns and Tigers traded points, knotting the game at 7-7. The Tigers took four of the next five points, a kill by Caylen Alexander marked the match at 11-8.
The Longhorns rallied five of the next six points, taking the lead, 13-12. The lead alternated back and forth, with Texas taking an advantage 20-19.
The Tigers tied the match at 24 by way of an Alexander kill, but in the end, Texas took two-straight points to take the set. In all, the set had 14 ties.
THIRD SET (27-25, Texas wins 3-0)
The back-and-forth battle continued as the set was tied 7-7. Missouri took four out of the next five points to take the lead, 11-8, forcing a Texas timeout.
Texas answered back with five out of the next six points to regain the lead, 13-12, while an Alexander kill knotted the game at 13 to tie it up. Regan Haith earned a kill to give the Tigers a 15-14 advantage.
The seesaw of a game continued as Missouri and Texas traded points to bring the match to 24 once again, thanks to an Alexander kill set up by Marina Crownover. Ultimately, Texas rallied two-straight points to break the tie and win the game 3-0.
GAME NOTES

Mizzou falls to 11-23 all-time against Texas.

Head coach Dawn Sullivan is 48-27 with the Tigers, and has an overall record of 157-65.
