
No. 9 Gymnastics’ Horton Earns Vault Runner-Up Title at SEC Championship

The Tigers take second in Session I, sixth overall at conference championship meet.
TULSA, Okla. – No. 9 Mizzou gymnastics' Hannah Horton (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) finished as the vault runner-up at the Southeastern Conference Championship as the Tigers placed sixth overall Saturday at the BOK Center before 6,278 spectators.
Missouri (14-9, 4-4 SEC) took second during Session I and earned the top team scores on floor and vault at its afternoon meet, earning 49.450 and 49.350, respectively.
SHOWSTOPPERS
Kimarra Echols (Henderson, Nev.) finished tied for fourth on vault with a 9.900, while Addison Lawrence (Olathe, Kan.) scored 9.925 on beam to take ninth.
"I challenged our team to show how good competitors respond to adversity in the third and fourth rotations, and I thought they did that," head coach Shannon Welker said. "We finished strong and battled back to finish second in the session."

BARS
-Missouri opened the meet with a 49.275 on uneven bars.
-Makayla Green (Mays Landing, N.J.) and Maiya Terry (Coeur d'Alene, Id.) both posted 9.850 from the leadoff and fourth spots, respectively.
-Going third, Olivia Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded a 9.875, her sixth-straight routine reaching the threshold.
-Anchoring the rotation, Echols earned 9.900, her second-straight meet scoring 9.9+ on bars.
BEAM
-The Black & Gold totaled 49.000.
-Kelly's routine from the fourth spot earned 9.875.
-Lauren Macpherson (Gilbert, Ariz.) followed with a 9.850.
-Addison Lawrence (Olathe, Kan.) scored 9.925, her sixth time reaching or exceeding the mark on beam this season.
FLOOR
-Four Tigers earned marks of 9.900: Elise Tisler (Fairfax Station, Va.), Kaia Tanskanen (Howell, Mich.), Kennedy Griffin (Strongsville, Ohio) and Horton.
-This marked the first time Mizzou recorded four scores of 9.900 or better in the same rotation at a neutral-site meet since also doing so on floor at the 2025 SEC Championship.
-Mizzou's fifth counted score was Ayla Acevedo's (Virginia Beach, Va.) 9.850.
-MU scored 49.450 on the floor exercise.
VAULT
-Tanskanen led off the final rotation with a 9.800.
-Acevedo and Griffin followed with matching 9.850s.
-Horton's 9.950 from the fourth position secured the runner-up finish.
-Echols followed and matched her career-best score of 9.900.
