Former Missouri All-American and Big 12 Conference champion Adrianne Perry is in her second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Tigers in 2014. Perry, a Columbia, Mo., native, competed for the Tigers from 2006-00.
"We are very excited and honored to have Adrianne return to Mizzou," Welker said. "She was such an integral part of the team's successes from 2006-09 and I am certain she will be a positive influence on our success this year."
"I'm ecstatic and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Mizzou Gymnastics staff this coming season," Perry said. "Since hanging up my competition leo in 2009, I have continued to be a big supporter of the program. It will be fun to take on a new role as a coach and mentor for these young women."
One of the most decorated gymnastics in Missouri history, Perry, a four-time NCAA Championship qualifier, capped her Tiger career with All-America honors in the all-around and floor at the 2009 NCAA Championships. She still stands as the only Mizzou gymnast to qualify for Nationals all four years and earn All-America accolades in the all-around after placing 16th in 2009 with a score of 39.350.
At the conference level, Perry won the 2008 Big 12 all-around title and the 2008 and 2009 Big 12 floor titles. She was named the 2006 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after a breakout freshman season and tallied 10 combined Big 12 regular season and championship team honors over the course of her Tiger career. Over her four years, Perry accumulated over 70 combined event and all-around titles and was a two-time Big 12 Gymnast of the Week. Additionally, she was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.
Perry earned her a bachelor's degree in textiles and apparel management from Missouri in 2010 and spent her first year after graduation as a retail manager. She decided to return to gymnastics and, for the last three years, Perry has coached club-level gymnastics in Illinois and Missouri. Perry is also a choreographer and has done many routines for athletes within the Midwest Region and for the Mizzou Gymnastics team.
She married Rodney Gust in June 2013.
