Robin Goodman was named the head coach of the tennis program on May 12, 2026. Goodman brings more than 10 years of Division I coaching experience to Columbia.
Goodman becomes the 13th head coach in program history after serving as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Tennessee during the 2025-26 season. Prior to his time in Knoxville, he spent five seasons as the head men's coach at Pacific.
During the 2025-26 season, Goodman helped lead Tennessee to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Volunteers finished the year ranked No. 19 nationally with a 14-10 overall record and an 8-7 mark in Southeastern Conference play. He also helped secure a highly regarded recruiting class that included four standout signees, highlighted by a five-star prospect ranked No. 29 nationally.
Before joining Tennessee, Goodman spent five seasons leading Pacific's men's program, where he elevated the Tigers to national prominence. Pacific sent a doubles team to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Championship in fall 2023. In his third season, Goodman earned West Coast Conference Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Tigers to a 19-6 record and an appearance in the NIT Championship final.
In his final season at Pacific, Goodman led the Tigers to the WCC Tournament semifinals and helped the program climb as high as No. 49 in the national rankings. The season also featured the program's first-ever win over Pepperdine.
Goodman previously served as an assistant coach at New Mexico from 2016-20. During his tenure in Albuquerque, the Lobos posted a 46-39 record and captured a conference title in 2019 following an undefeated conference season. At New Mexico, Goodman assisted with recruiting, scheduling, player development, travel logistics and community outreach.
Goodman also spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Baylor from 2014-16, helping the Bears reach the NCAA Tournament twice, including a semifinal appearance in 2015. Baylor finished the 2015 season ranked No. 3 nationally, its highest ranking since 2005.
A native of Cambridge, England, Goodman was a four-year letterwinner at Drake and served as team captain for two seasons. He compiled 111 career singles victories and posted an .847 winning percentage. Goodman was a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection and earned MVC Player of the Week honors three times. He was also a two-time first-team All-MVC Scholar-Athlete and finished his collegiate career with the fifth-most wins in program history.
Goodman graduated from Drake in 2014 with a degree in business management and later earned a master's degree in sports administration from Baylor.
