MU Gymnasts Lose at SE Missouri

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO, ___ -- The 23rd-ranked Missouri Tigers gymnastics team posted its second highest score of the season, and its second highest road score in history, on Sunday, but it wasn't enough to beat the Illinois Fighting Illini and the home-standing Southeast Missouri State Otahkians.
Both teams scored their highest totals of the season. Illinois won the meet with a score of 194.3, and was followed by SEMO (194.125) and Mizzou (193.375).
Missouri senior Jessica Haag won her fourth vaulting title of the year with a score of 9.8 and placed fourth in the all-around with the second highest score of her career - 38.825. As a team, Missouri won the vault, but placed third in the other three events.
Tiger Amanda Peterson tied her career high in placing second on balance beam with a score of 9.85. That represents Mizzou's best beam score of the season.
Missouri (6-8) completes a three-meet road trip next Sunday, traveling to Norman, Okla., to take on the 14th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (10-2). MU's next home meet is March 7, when they host the 5th annual Corvette Cup at Hearnes Center.
