Provo, Utah-The University of Missouri women's gymnastics team continues to post some of the program's highest marks to date. Despite falling to No. 15 ranked Brigham Young, 195.400-193.650, No. 25 ranked Missouri put up a season high on the vault and posted two all-time program top-10 scores. The meet is the second time this year as BYU topped MU 194.950-194.475 in their last match-up during the 2002 Cat Classic.
Missouri stuttered to a start of the dual meet scoring a 47.400 on the uneven bars. Top scores for MU were recorded by Andrea Nervig and Alisha Robinson who both posted a 9.725 on the event. Junior Leah Gremaud sustained a wrist injury during the event that took her from the competitive rotation.
Moving over to the vault however, the Tigers began to pick up the momentum scoring a 48.675 to post a new season high and tie for MU's third highest all-time team score. Sophomore Lauren Owca worked her way into the competitive rotation scoring a 9.625 for Mizzou. Junior Rachel Bridges blew her career-high out of the arena nailing a 9.800 and freshman Alisha Robinson recorded a 9.900-her third 9.9+ score of the year.
Topping the record books yet again this season, Missouri recorded its second highest mark in program history posting a 49.275 floor score as a team. The score is also Mizzou's third highest on the floor exercise this season. Making the feat possible, Laura Forbes and Andrea Nervig recorded back-to-back 9.900 routines to boost Mizzou. It is the second 9.900 on the year for Forbes and marks a new career-high for Nervig. Also adding to the Tigers' performance, freshman Ashley Asraf tied her career-mark on the apparatus throwing a 9.875 and Bridges recorded a 9.800-her third of the season.
Rounding out the meet, Missouri scored a 48.300 on the balance beam. Topping Mizzou's lineup, Rachael Dombart led the Tigers with a 9.775.
Performing as all-around competitors for Mizzou, freshman Alisha Robinson scored a 39.125-it is the first all-around meet Robinson has competed in since recovering from an ankle injury. Also contributing in the all-around, sophomore Lindsay Davis scored a 38.350.
Up next for Missouri, the Tigers return to Columbia, Mo., to host Big 12 opponent Iowa State on Sun., March 17 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for the event are available by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS or at the Hearnes Center Ticket Office.
