Durham, New Hampshire - Coaches are always telling their athletes that there is no 'I' in team, and the Missouri gymnastics team further proved that point Friday night as they defeated the University of New Hampshire Wildcats 196.05 to 195.60. Missouri's score of 196.05 ranks third highest in team history.
Trying to follow last week's record setting performance against Iowa State where she scored a perfect 10.0 on the balance beam, sophomore Lauren Schwartzman continued setting records Friday night. With her score of 9.900 on the vault, Schwartzman set a new personal best for herself and tied for first place. Schwartzman also tied for first on the balance beam with a score of 9.900.
Freshman Amanda Pezzullo also set a new personal best on the vault with her score of 9.850. Pezzullo and fellow teammate Alisha Robinson also tied for third place on the vault.
The uneven bars proved to be a strong point for the Missouri team tonight as Robinson finished in first and teammates Kelley Andersen and Andrea Nervig tied for third.
"Tonight was a total team effort, we had several strong individual performances, but our whole team worked together and came through tonight," said Missouri gymnastics coach Rob Drass. "Our depth really stepped up tonight and helped out. I think that shows how strong of a team we are overall."
