Tigers rally from 2-0 hole in dramatic match
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Soccer (5-2-0) fell to Cal State Fullerton (5-2-0) Friday night at Audrey J. Walton Stadium 3-2. In the first-ever meeting between the Tigers and Titans, it was Cal State Fullerton who took the first game due to a hot start and a decisive goal scored early in the second half.
While the Tigers trailed 2-0 late in the first half of action, things turned around quickly for Mizzou as senior forward Sarah Luebbert took a ball from sophomore forward Skye Kingsley into the box and slotted it home to the left of the keeper in the 38th. Five minutes later, redshirt senior Bethany Coons dribbled the ball into the box and crossed in front of the goal. A Titan deflection landed Coons' cross at the feet of junior forward Macy Trujillo who took advantage of the opportunity and drilled it into the left side of the net to even the score at 2-2 in the 43rd. It was Cal State Fullerton, however, that would take advantage of momentum gained from a goal from Haley Brown in the 50th that sealed the win for the Titans.
