Three Tigers posted under-par rounds
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf wrapped up its first 2021 spring tournament, the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday. Sophomore redshirt Ross Steelman led the way for the Tigers to finish in 19th place with a score of 849 (289-281-279). The planned three-day event was condensed into two due to anticipated inclement weather with both days consisting of roughly 27 holes. The competition slate featured 21 teams and a total of 120 players.
Steelman fired a 3-under 67 in the final round to tie his second-lowest season round score. His under-par round was complemented by an even-par 70 and a 1-over 71, anchored by 13 birdies. He finished T-35.
Sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai displayed consistency across all three rounds firing a 1-over 71 followed by two even-par 70s. His performance was backed by 10 birdies to finish T-57.
Columbia native senior Jack Parker bounced back in the second round, posting a 1-over 71 including four birdies. He continued that momentum to post a 1-under 69 in the final round, closing out at T-90.
Recent sophomore transfer Michael Terblanche's career debut weekend was highlighted by his second-round score of 1-under 69, marking his first round under-par as a Tiger. He closed his first Mizzou event at T-102 with a 9-over par. Veteran Rory Franssen rounded out his performance with back-to-back 73 scores to finish T102 with a total score of 220.
Tommy Boone competed as an individual and posted a strong day one finish by sinking three birdies in the last six holes of the round. He sandwiched a 74 with two 72s to close out the weekend in T-89 with an 8-over 218.
