
Swimming and Diving Takes on Purdue in Home-Opening Dual

Tigers compete in first home meet of 2024-25 season Friday
COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri swimming and diving will host Purdue in its first home dual of the 2024-25 season Friday (Oct. 22) morning at Mizzou Aquatic Center. The matchup will serve as the Tigers' annual Pink Out meet in support of breast cancer awareness.
Competition beings at 10 a.m., with live results available via the Meet Mobile app. Additionally, the meet will be streamed live on ESPN+. Admission is free and open to the public.
Mizzou swimming and diving will collect donations and hold a raffle featuring special pink items and limited-edition swimming and diving t-shirts to support MU Health and Ellis Fischel Cancer Center.
The Mizzou men will be opening their campaign, while the women are coming off a season-opening road dual win over Arkansas. Following their win over the Razorbacks (Oct. 12), the Mizzou women earned a No. 25 national ranking in the October edition of the College Swimming and Diving Association of America (CSCAA) Division I Top 25 dual meet poll.
Last season, the men found success sending five individual athletes and a group of six to represent in relays at NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. The 200-medley relay team and 1-meter diver, Collier Dyer, earned Second-Team All-American honors at the championships.
AGAINST PURDUE
- The men are 2-1-1 all-time against the Boilermakers, while the women are 2-1 vs. Purdue.
- The Tigers last faced the Boilermakers on January 13, 2024, at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatics Center.
- The MU men earned a tie (150-150), while the women fell to Purdue, 160-140, last season in West Lafayette.
LAST TIME OUT: ARKANSAS (women)
- Karolina Bank captured gold in all three of her events in the Tigers' 174-125 victory over the Razorbacks. The junior won the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.41, which currently ranks as the second-fastest in the SEC and fourth-best in the nation. Bank also notched a win in the 200 breast and helped the Tigers' 200 medley relay claim a victory as well.
- Freshman Katie Gresik picked up a win in the 1000 free in her MU debut, while Sydney Bales (100 back), Taylor Williams (200 fly), Zara Zallen (200 free), Abbey Taute (200 back) and Grace Hanson (100 fly) also brought home golds in individual events for the Tigers.
TIGERS TO WATCH
- Grant Bochenski competed at the USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials in June, turning in a personal best of 50.12 in the 100 free. He also broke the MU program record in the 100 back at the SEC Championships with a time of 44.96 last spring.
- Dyer returns for his junior campaign after earning All-America honors and a silver medal (397.00) in the platform dive at the SEC Championships.
- Jan Zubik registered the second-best time in school history (1:40.95) in the 200 fly last season. The junior also clocked the sixth-best time (45.89) in the 100 fly and matched the seventh-best time (1:42.09) in the 200 back last season.
