Swimming and Diving Hosts Nationally-Ranked Louisville Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri swimming and diving is set to kick off the 2025 calendar year with a home dual against Louisville Friday (Jan. 3) at Mizzou Aquatic Center.
The Tigers last competed in November at the Georgia Invitational, where both squads placed fifth. The Mizzou men scored 524 points, and the women tallied 492.5 in Athens.
Mizzou sent two divers to the 2024 USA Diving Winter National Championships in Bloomington, Indiana (Dec. 11-15). Junior Collier Dyer scored 730.55 in senior men 3-meter diving to place fourth and 747.45 in senior men platform diving for a fifth-place finish. Freshman Derek Colbert put up 623.90 in senior men platform diving to place 10th.
Competition beings at 11 a.m., with live results available via the Meet Mobile app and DiveMeets. Admission is free and open to the public.
AGAINST LOUISVILLE
- The MU men bring a 1-6 series record against the Cardinals (1-2 and currently ranked No. 10 in the most recent CSCAA Top 25) into the meet.
- The Mizzou women are 0-5 all-time in head-to-head competition vs. Louisville (4-0 and currently ranked No. 8).
- The Tigers last faced the Cardinals on January 5, 2024, at Ralph Wright Natatorium.
- The men's squad fell 205-89, while the women dropped a 203-96 decision last season in Louisville.
LAST TIME OUT: GEORGIA INVITATIONAL
- The men's 200 free relay of Luke Nebrich, Grant Bochenski, Francois Malherbe and Darden Tate registered an NCAA B cut qualifying standard time of 1:16.98 and placed fourth.
- Newcomer Megan Jolly earned her highest mark of the season with score of 297.45 in women's 3-meter diving for fourth place. Jolly also placed fifth in women's 1-meter diving with a 265.20 performance.
- Gabriela San Juan Carmona earned fifth place in women's 3-meter diving with a score of 289.20.
- Bochenski shone in the men's 400 medley relay with an individual swim of 45.34, surpassing the 2023 NCAA invited time. The senior also placed second in the men's 100 back with a time of 45.66.
- Poland native, Jan Zubik found his way to the podium in the men's 100 fly with a time of 45.99 to earn bronze. Zubik also earned his second bronze in the men's 200 fly with a 1:41.65 swim.
- The men's 200 medley relay team of Logan Ottke, Bochenski, Zubik and Nebrich earned a third-place finish by recording a 1:24.19 performance.
- Dyer earned his spot on the men's 3-meter diving podium with a score of 373.80 that earned a second-place finish. Dyer also placed fifth in men's platform diving with a score of 336.00.
- The women's squad found success on the short-course through Karolina Bank in the 100 breast and Paige Striley in the 100 fly. Bank placed fourth with a time of 59.97, and Striley earned fifth with a 52.62 performance.
- Alex Ochsenbein placed fifth in the men's 100 breast with a swim of 52.60. Ochsenbein also excelled in the men's 200 breast with a time of 1:54.95 to place fourth.
- Freshman Derek Colbert earned his first career podium finish with a second-place performance of 356.75 in men's platform diving.
- Freshman Mia Henninger also posted a career-best performance with a score of 240.65 to take fourth in women's platform diving.
- Tommaso Zannella saw his best performance of the season with a fourth place finish in men's platform diving with a 336.20 score.
- Zara Zallen made her way to the podium with a 48.58 swim in the women's 100 free to place third.
- The women's 400 free relay team, consisting of Zallen, Francesca Smith, Katie Kuehn and Sierra Smith, secured a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:15.93.
UP NEXT
Following a two-week hiatus, the Tigers will host Missouri State and McKendree, January 17-18 at Mizzou Aquatic Center.
