
Women's Basketball to Face Alabama in SEC Tournament Opening Round

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 14 seed University of Missouri women's basketball will travel to face No. 11 seed Alabama at 7:30 p.m. CST on Wednesday in the opening round of the 2026 Southeastern Conference Tournament in Greenville, S.C. The contest will be broadcast on SEC Network.
Missouri enters the tournament after posting a 16-15 overall record in the regular season, including a 4-12 mark in league play.
The Tigers concluded the regular season with a loss to Oklahoma on Sunday.
Junior guard Shannon Dowell led Missouri with a season-high 33 points and 10 rebounds.
Junior guard Grace Slaughter added 15 points and five rebounds.
Senior forward Jordana Reisma capped off her last regular season contest with 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and a steal.
Slaughter leads the Tigers with 18.9 points per game this season and ranks fifth in scoring amongst the conference. On Tuesday, she was named to the All-SEC Second Team.
In a career-high 33-point performance against Northwestern on Nov. 29, the junior became the 41st athlete in program history to score 1,000th career points. From there, she has climbed all the way to 13th on Mizzou's all-time scoring leaderboard.
Totaling 585 points on the year, Slaughter has scored the eighth most points in a single season in program history.
Slaughter was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Small Forward of the Year mid-season watch list on Feb. 4.
On the season, Mizzou is ranked 29th in the country and fifth in the SEC in 3-point percentage at 35.2%.
Missouri is 22nd nationally and third in the SEC with 8.6 makes from beyond the arc per game. The Tigers also rank 14th in the country and first in the SEC in free-throw percentage at 78.0%.
Opposite the offensive end, Mizzou is 29th in the country and fourth in the league in defensive rebounding with 28.3 per game.
Junior guard Abbey Schreacke was named to the SEC Community Service Team for the second consecutive year on Feb. 25.
Alabama enters the tournament following a 21-9 record in the regular season, including a 7-9 record in league play.
Head coach Kristy Curry is in her 13th season on the sidelines in Tuscaloosa with a 242-171 record. In her 27-year collegiate career, Curry is 551-320 all-time.
The Crimson Tide's roster is headlined by redshirt senior guard Jessica Timmons, who averages 15.4 points per game.
This game marks the 21st all-time meeting between the teams, Alabama leading the series 11-9.
The programs met previously this season on Jan. 12. Despite a 23-point performance from Slaughter, the Tigers fell 74-63.
Mizzou holds a 4-13 record in the SEC Tournament all-time, with the last victory coming in 2020
