
Softball Drops Game Two Against No. 22/20 LSU

The Tigers suffered their largest loss of the season, as they fell 16-4.
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou softball (20-20, 4-7 SEC) fell 16-4 against No. 22/20 LSU (26-12, 6-8 SEC) on Friday, April 3, at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
Freshman Abby Carr earned her 11th home run of the season and recorded three strikeouts on the mound. Junior Marissa McCann picked up the loss in this one as she is 6-8 as a starter this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first, a leadoff double from freshman Addy Waits was followed by an RBI single from junior Abby Hay, giving the Tigers the early advantage. Mizzou followed that up with a two-run home run shot from Carr, giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead after the first frame.
LSU recorded one in the second and eventually tied the ball game with a two-run home run at the start of the third. An RBI single followed this to give them a one-run lead. LSU added to its lead with a two-run homer in the top 4th to extend the lead to 6-3.
McCann was relieved in the fourth, as she finished the start with 3.1 innings pitched three strikeouts and six runs allowed.
With Carr on the mound, LSU scored one in the top of the fifth with a double in the gap to make it 7-3.
Sophomore Madison Uptegrove opened up the bottom half of that frame with a leadoff single and eventually scored via a wild pitch to make it 7-4.
LSU would roll for the remainder of the game, as it scored nine runs in the final two innings. Mizzou would eventually wrap up the game, as it dropped the second game of the series 16-4 - its largest loss of the season.
