The women's tennis team wrapped up their season today in College Station, Texas, losing to Oklahoma State in the first round of the Big 12 Championships. The Tigers (10-16, 2-10), seeded No. 11, lost to the 6th seeded Cowgirls (15-7, 6-5), 5-1. No doubles matches were played.
Freshman Biljana Pawlowa was the lone winner for Missouri, beating OSU's Maria Galoustova 6-3, 6-3. Pawlowa finished the season 21-13, 5-7. Junior Joni Jordan also played well for the Tigers, taking her match with Cameron Stoudt to three sets.
"We did not play well. That was the bottom line," Coach Blake Starkey said following the match. "I really hated to see the year end like this. We got off to a good start today, but then we dug ourselves a hole. The effort just wasnt there toward the end."
"I'm very disappointed," freshman Caitlin Thompson added. "I feel like we could have done a lot better. We got off to a slow start during the first rounds. We should have made more of an effort. I have to give credit to OSU. They were a good team."
