Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Tigers Katka Sevcikova and Erika Josbena both won their respective singles finals on Sunday to claim the singles titles of the Mizzou 4-Way.
Sevcikova defeated #1 seeded Katja Miller of Illinois State to claim the A Singles Championship. Sevcikova was down 6-2 in the third set and stormed back to take the tiebreaker and the match 10-8.
In the B Singles final, Josbena defeated Emily Sechuad of Illinois State (6-4, 6-1).
In the doubles finals, Sevcikova and freshman Lubica Nadasska were unable to pull off similar heroics as they fell 8-5 in the championship match to Illinois State's Katja Miller and Caroline Simonovic.
"Overall, we're pleased with what we saw this weekend," said Coach Blake Starkey. "We've definitely got some areas that need to improve, but all in all, we competed hard. Katka and Erika were both solid and earned their wins. Erika has really made some strides over the summer, and is looking strong. We'll take a few days off and then get back to work."
