HOUSTON, Texas - Mizzou tennis began their last non-conference road trip of the season Friday afternoon, and dropped a 4-2 matchup at No. 56 Houston. Sophomores Beatriz Machado Santos and Brittany Lashway tallied the team's lone singles wins on the day.
Santos improved to 7-1 in singles this spring with her win today. The seven singles victories is tied for second most on the Tiger squad. Lashway's comeback triumph over Maria Cardenas pushed her spring singles record over .500, as she now stands at 3-2.
Friday's match was close throughout, as Mizzou was either tied or within one team point on two occasions. Ultimately, Houston had the final say with their victory at No. 4 singles to clinch the team victory.
The Tigers (7-4) look to get back in the win column tomorrow afternoon against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Mizzou and the host Islanders are set for a 2 p.m. (CT) first serve Saturday.
