The Tigers compete at the NCAA Minneapolis Regional Saturday at 4 p.m. CT
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 20 Mizzou gymnastics team travels to Minneapolis, Minn., to compete in the 2016 NCAA Minneapolis Regional on Saturday, April 2 at 4 p.m. CT. The Tigers will compete against No. 2 Florida, No. 11 Denver, No. 14 Minnesota, No. 28 Ohio State and No. 31 BYU. TIGER TIDBITS
- Mizzou ended the regular season ranked 20th in the national rankings with an RQS of 196.235.
- So far in 2016, Tiger freshman have accounted for 58.7 percent of all Mizzou routines.
- Freshman Morgan Porter was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in a vote by the league's head coaches, the SEC announced on March 24.
- Freshman Britney Ward earned NACGC/W regular season beam All-America honors after claiming a spot on the second team, announced on March 25.
- This season marks only the second time in program history (37 years) Mizzou has tallied at least three scores of 196.625 or higher in the same year. The Tigers also accomplished the feat in 2004, when they did it four times.
- Against Arkansas on March 4, Porter won four titles and tied the second-highest all-around total in Mizzou history with a career-best 39.675 in the meet against the
- Razorbacks. The score is also tied as the seventh-highest all-around total in the nation this season and second-best among SEC gymnasts. She notched individual event scores of 9.950 on beam and floor, 9.925 on bars and 9.850 on vault for the 39.675.
- Mizzou scored a 196.625 at Auburn on Feb. 26 to record the team's highest road score since 2007 and the fourth-highest away total in program history.
- Against Auburn, Mizzou also tallied its fifth-highest vault (49.300) and beam (49.250) event scores in program history.
- Through 12 meets in 2016, the Tigers notched 151 individual scores of 9.8 or higher, which calculates to 52.4 percent of all routines.
- Porter leads the Tigers with 35 scores of 9.8 or higher.
- In the State of Missouri Meet on Feb. 5, the Tigers notched a season best 49.475 on floor, the fifth-best event total in program history.
- Mizzou won its first-ever SEC dual meet on Jan. 22 in a 195.800-195.350 win over then-No. 9 Georgia at Mizzou Arena.
- Head Coach Shannon Welker is in his third season at the helm of the Tiger program. Welker led Mizzou to the nation's biggest improvement in 2015, as the squad finished 21st in the national rankings after coming in 41st at the end of the 2014 campaign.
