@MizzouTennis Falls to Arkansas, 4-1, in First Round of SEC Tournament

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Mizzou Tennis won the doubles point with a pair of convincing wins, yet No. 11 seed Arkansas took the first four singles decisions to register a 4-1 win Wednesday morning in the first round of the SEC Tournament.
The Razorbacks (8-15) advance to a second-round matchup with No. 6 seed Auburn tomorrow morning, while Mizzou's season ends at 13-17.
As it had done 15 other times this season, the Tigers took the doubles point with some solid play across all three courts. The team of sophomore Mackenzy Middlebrooks (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and freshman Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) picked up their 18th win as a duo this year – and 21st in doubles overall for each this season – with a convincing 6-2 win over Arkansas' No. 3 pair of Agne Cepelyte and Natsuho Arakawa.
Then senior co-captain Amina Ismail (Maineville, Ohio) and sophomore Serena Nash (Bradford, England) clinched the point for the Tigers with a 6-3 win over Giulia Pairone & Mia Jurasic.
Play moved to singles, and Mizzou once again came close but couldn't get over the hump. Ismail took her first set over Natsuho Arakawa at No. 4, 6-3, and Nash lost a close first-set tiebreaker at No. 1, but the Tigers were unable to stave off the Razorbacks.
