Mizzou Basketball Game Notes
STORYLINES
- Mizzou hits the road to finish up a home-and-home series with Temple. The Owls beat Mizzou last season in a thriller at Mizzou Arena, 79-77. Junior Mark Smith led Mizzou with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting in that game, but Temple shot 51.6 percent from the field to secure the win.
- It will mark the fifth all-time meeting between Mizzou and Temple, and the first in Philadelphia at the Liacouras Center. The two squads have previously met twice in Columbia, and twice at a neutral site, including an NCAA Tournament matchup in 1993.
- Temple is 6-1 this season with its lone loss coming to Top-10 Maryland. The Owls beat SEC foe Texas A&M, 65-42, on Nov. 29 in the Orlando Invitational.
- Including Temple, Mizzou's nine opponents thus far this season are a combined 49-23, a winning percentage of .680. Temple is the seventh opponent in nines game to enter its matchup with Mizzou either undefeated or with just one loss (Wofford and Charleston Southern were the exceptions).
- Mizzou ranks 40th nationally in KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency metric, allowing 91 points per 100 possessions. The Tigers rank 27th in scoring defense, just two spots behind Temple. Mizzou allows 59.6 points per game.
- The Tigers are cashing in at the charity stripe through eight games, making 75.7 percent of their attempts, the third highest clip in the SEC. Mizzou has shot above 80 percent as a team at the line four times in eight games, getting to the line at least 15 times in each of those four games.
- Before Oklahoma scored 77 points and Charleston Southern managed 68 points in the last two outings, Mizzou had held six opponents to 63 or fewer points in six consecutive games to start a season for the first time since 1951-52, when the Tigers did so in eight straight games.
- After Morehead State managed 52 points on Nov. 20, Mizzou is 19-0 under Martin when holding its foe to 59 or fewer points, and has won 26 of its last 27 games overall when doing so. Mizzou has held opponents under 70 points 43 times in 73 games under Martin (58.9 percent of games).
- Mizzou junior forward Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr., is shooting 66.7 percent after a 5-of-7 performance vs. Charleston Southern. Tilmon, Jr.'s field goal percentage ranks 11 nationally and would rank third all-time at Mizzou in a single season. His career 56.6 percent clip from the field is the fourth highest percentage in program history currently.
THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE
- Junior forward Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr., is shooting 66.7 percent from the field thus far (34-of-51). That ranks 11th nationally.

- Tilmon, Jr., has a team-high 13 blocked shots this season, which ranks sixth in the SEC. He has 71 blocks and counting through just 72 games. MARKSMAN
- Mark Smith shot a blistering 45 percent from 3-point range, the SEC's highest percentage (min. 100 attempts) a year ago. It was the fourth-highest mark by a sophomore in Mizzou history and the eighth-highest ever in program history. He was one of 28 players nationally to shoot 45 percent from 3-point range and one of just six from power conferences.
- Through eight games, Mark is Mizzou's leading scorer with 12.4 points per game after notching 18 points and eight rebounds vs. Oklahoma.
- Mark ripped off a career-high 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a dominant outing against Morehead State. The junior guard has tallied 43 points and 15 rebounds over the last two matchups with the Eagles the last two seasons. He reached 21 points on just nine field goal attempts, the first Tiger to do so since Ryan Rosburg vs. Tennessee on Feb. 3, 2016, and the just the sixth Tiger overall since 2010.
- Mark averaged 15.5 points per game over four Hall of Fame Classic games.
- The Tigers are now 3-1 this season when he leads the team in scoring and 5-2 when he scores 19+ points since his arrival at Mizzou.

He's snagged at least three rebounds in every game this season as a Tiger.
- Mark has 139 rebounds as a Tiger. Since the beginning of the 2018-19 season, only Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr., (224) has grabbed more rebounds on Mizzou's active roster, despite Mark only appearing in 27 games in that span.

- Mizzou returns home to face SIU-Carbondale for the eighth time in program history and the first time since a 72-59 victory in Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 12, 2013.

After walking on at Mizzou in 2017-18, Suggs earned a scholarship last season, appearing in 27 games off the bench and finishing with 46 points in 243 minutes.
