STORYLINES
- The No. 19 Mizzou gymnastics team concludes the regular season on Friday, March 15 as the team hosts No. 7 Michigan, No. 9 Minnesota and Centenary at the Hearnes Center. Senior recognition will begin about 6:40 p.m. CT.
- The Tigers dropped two spots to No. 19 in this week's national rankings.
- Mizzou also ranks 16th nationally on floor, 20th on vault, 21st on beam and 23rd on bars.
- Mizzou's win over Kentucky on March 1 was the team's first top 10 win of the season and the first since it knocked off No. 5 Florida on March 2, 2018.
- Mizzou is one of only five teams nationally that has scored 49 or better on floor in every meet in 2019, joining No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Florida, No. 5 Utah and No. 15 Oregon State.
- Additionally, the Tigers have gone at least 49 on floor in 11 consecutive meets, dating back to the 2018 NCAA Regional. The 11-meet span is a program record, besting the seven meet stretch from Feb. 19 - April 10, 2010.
- Against Alabama on Feb. 1, the Tigers scored at least 49.100 on all four events for the first time this season and the fourth time under Head Coach Shannon Welker's tenure at Mizzou.
LAST TIME OUT
- The No. 17 Mizzou gymnastics team placed second at the annual State of Missouri Meet with a team score of 195.200 Sunday afternoon in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Lindenwood finished first with a 195.900, while host Southeast Missouri State took third with 189.800.
- Four Tigers claimed event titles during the meet. Redshirt junior Morgan Porter tallied a 9.875 to win the bars crown, while junior Aspen Tucker, sophomore Gabrielle Gottula and freshman Frances Bidwill all tied for the vault title with scores of 9.825.
- The Tigers opened with a 48.850 on bars, highlighted by the 9.875 for Porter as she claimed her second event title on the event in as many weeks. Bidwill closed the rotation with a career-best 9.775, redshirt senior Becca Schugel and senior Brooke Kelly each earned 9.75s, and Tucker added a 9.7.
- In the second rotation, sophomore Lauren Clevenger recorded a team-best score of 9.75 in the anchor position as the Tigers went 48.425 on the event. Gottula and senior Allison Bower also posted scores of 9.7.
- Mizzou went 49.000 on floor in the third rotation to keep run its streak school-record streak of consecutive 49s on the event to 11 meets. The Tigers also remain one of five teams nationally with a 49 on floor in every meet of 2019. Individually, Tucker and senior Michaelee Turner both tallied scores of 9.825 to lead Missouri. Sophomore Chelsey Christensen claimed a 9.8 in her first career floor routine, and Bower and junior Mary Nicholson both went 9.775s.
- The Tigers closed the meet with a 48.925 on vault. Bidwill, Gottula and Tucker all led the way with 9.825s to tie for the event crown. Christensen notched a 9.75 and freshman Hannah McCrary, in her first competition action since January, added a 9.7.
UP NEXT
- The Tigers start postseason play with the Southeastern Conference Championships on Saturday, March 23 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La.
MISSOURI CLOCKS IN AT NO. 19 IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
- Mizzou fell two spots to No. 19 in this week's national rankings with a National Qualifying Score of 196.255.
- The NQS is calculated by taking a team's top six scores, three of which must be from road or neutral meets, dropping the high score, and averaging the remaining five scores.
- The Tigers also rank 16th on floor, 20th on vault, 21st on beam and 23rd on bars.
TIGERS HITTING ON FLOOR
- The Tigers are one of only five teams that have scored at least 49 on floor in every meet so far in 2019.
- Mizzou joins No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Florida, No. 5 Utah and No. 15 Oregon State as the only programs to reach the 49 mark on floor all year.
- The Tigers have floor scores of 49.400 against Kentucky, 49.275 against Georgia, 49.225 at LSU, 49.200 against Alabama and at Florida and the Mardi Gras Invitational, a 49.100 at the Metroplex Challenge, 49.075 against Auburn, 49.050 at Arizona State, and 49.000 at the State of Missouri Meet.
MIZZOU IN PROGRAM-RECORD FLOOR STRETCH
- The Tigers are also in the midst of a program-record 11 meet stretch with scores of 49 or higher.
- Missouri's floor span dates back to the NCAA Regional on April 7, 2018 and includes every meet of 2019.
- The 11-meet span is a program-long for the Tigers, surpassing the previous high of seven set from Feb. 19, 2010 until April 10, 2010.
TIGERS TAKE DOWN NO. 10 KENTUCKY
- Missouri posted a 196.250-196.000 win over No. 10 Kentucky on March 1 for its first top 10 win of the season.
- It was also Mizzou's second Southeastern Conference win of the season, as the quad also downed Arkansas on Jan. 26.
- The win over the Wildcats was the Tigers' first over a top 10 team since they earned a 196.925-196.700 upset over No. 5 Florida on March 3, 2018.
