Softball Drops Midweek to UCF

The Tigers are now 2-4 this season, and 0-1 in road games.
Mizzou softball (2-4) dropped its first midweek of the season, as the Tigers fell to UCF (6-1), 5-1, on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the UCF Softball Complex in Orlando, Fla.
Mizzou got ahead early in the top of the 2nd with a bases-loaded walk from freshman Addy Waits, for her second RBI of the season. This would be the lone run for the Tigers as sophomore Madison Uptegrove would be the one to cross the plate.
Starting pitcher senior Cierra Harrison would make it till the fourth inning before allowing the first hit of the ballgame.
However, the second time through the lineup would prove to be a problem, as she gave up a solo home run to left field and a single before being replaced by junior Marissa McCann. UCF would get to McCann as the first batter she faced would hit a home run to centerfield, making it 3-1. A wild pitch and a sacrifice fly would end the damage in the fifth, with the Knights leading 5-1.
Junior Nathalie Touchet made her season debut in the bottom of the sixth, allowing zero runs and one hit.
Six Tigers would notch hits in this one, with junior Abby Hay reaching safely twice with a single and a walk.
Freshman Gracie Britton would get her first career hit as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.
GAME NOTES
- Larissa Anderson is now 374-223-1 all-time.
- The all-time series is now tied 3-3 against the Knights.
- Mizzou outscored its opponents 7-6 in the fifth inning this season, with this being the first time the Tigers have allowed a run in the fifth inning since the opening game against Penn State.

- Mizzou plays in another tournament in Clearwater, Fla. as the Tigers head to the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational starting with a game against NC State at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex.
