Mizzou 10, Drake 2 | 5 Innings
The Tigers routed Drake in this one, as they posted their first five-inning mercy rule victory of the season. Freshman Addy Waits got the ball rolling on this one as she doubled off the wall, which resulted in an RBI double from junior Abby Hay, putting the Tigers up 1-0 early at the bottom of the first.
The dominance at the bottom of the first continued as junior Stenfania Abruscato gained an RBI, increasing the lead to 2-0. This was followed by a two-run home run from freshman Abby Carr, putting the Tigers up 4-0.
The scoring continued in the bottom of the 2nd as Abby Hay hit a double, resulting in two runs, increasing the lead to 6-0 early in the contest. This was followed by another RBI from Abruscato, pushing it to 7-0.
Freshman Abby Carr capped off the inning with an RBI double to make the score of the contest 8-0 at the end of the second inning.
Pitcher Marissa McCann found her groove early as she accumulated seven-straight strikeouts and ended with a career high 12.
Drake earned some back with a two-run home run, making the score 8-2 at the top of the fourth. However, the Tigers continued their scoring at the bottom of the fourth; freshman Sidney Forrester posted an RBI to increase the lead to 9-2.
Finally, in the bottom of the fifth, sophomore Sophie Smith singled to end the contest as the Tigers went on to win the matchup against Drake 10-2 in the fifth.
Mizzou 2, Miami (OH) 8
Similar to yesterday, Miami got off to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first two innings.
Freshman Linny Ramsey answered those two runs with her first career home run, making the score 2-1. However, the Redhawks continued to stay on top with a three-run-homerun to increase the advantage to 5-1. They would further extend their lead to 6-1.
A sacrifice fly from sophomore Madison Uptegrove in the third would be the final run for the Tigers, making it 6-2.
However, the scoring for the Redhawks wasn't done as another home run added to the lead, and a single in the 7th all but sealed it at 8-2. Mizzou would get one last chance in the bottom half, as it loaded the bases with one out, but couldn't convert.
