
Tennis Player Spotlight: Zoe Lazar

Zoe Lazar is a sophomore from Pinamar, Buenos Aires, Argentina. She came to Mizzou as a freshman after having an 83% win rate during her senior year of high school. Her first collegiate season featured a Southeastern Conference singles win against Mississippi State.
This season, Lazar is 7-7 in singles with 11 unfinished matches, primarily competing at the No. 5 and 6 slots. She also earned a 6-2 doubles win over SEC opponent Kentucky with her partner, Korina Roso. Read the Q&A below to learn more about the student-athlete.
- Being an international player, how has the adjustment been so far at Mizzou?
- "As an international student-athlete, it was very challenging to adapt at first to a new culture and being far from home. But I've learned a lot, and my teammates have helped me a lot, so the support from everyone makes it easier."
- Who has been your favorite SEC opponent to play thus far?
- "My favorite SEC opponent so far was Mississippi State last year, because of the tension and energy that both teams were giving."
- Coming from a successful high school career, how has the adjustment from playing in high school to college been?
- "It's been a big adjustment, because in high school I was used to playing individually, and now in college I am getting to learn and experience what it's like being a part of a team."
- What is your favorite memory from freshman year?
- "My favorite memory from freshman year was probably when we won against Florida, because of the energy that day and the post-match celebration."
- What was it like to represent Argentina in the World Cup?
- "It was very special and unforgettable to represent my country."
- Where would be your ideal place to travel?
- "My ideal place to travel would be Thailand or the Maldives."
