COLUMBIA, MO. – No. 46 Mizzou (10-10) will host two more opponents ranked in the ITA Top 25 at the Mizzou Tennis Complex this weekend as the Tigers welcome No. 24 Tennessee on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 2 Georgia on Sunday at 1 p.m. This weekend will mark the sixth and seventh straight matchups against Top-25 teams for the Tigers. Mizzou has faced eight such opponents already this season. Fans are encouraged to wear black to Friday's contest for the annual Black Out match and to arrive early on Sunday as Mizzou will honor its three seniors, Bea Machado Santos (Lisbon, Portugal), Kadi Fauble (Quincy, Ill.), and Cassidy Spearman (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) on Senior Day. Admission is free and both matches will be held at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
Dynamic Duo:
- Mizzou's No. 1 doubles pairing of Santos and junior Amina Ismail (Maineville, Ohio) has been magnificent in recent play, earning them the No. 17 ranking in the ITA National Doubles Rankings, the highest ranked doubles pairing for Mizzou since 2003.
- Ismail and Santos have won their last four completed matches, all against ranked opponents, with their biggest win coming in their last match against Kentucky as they defeated the No. 4 pairing in the country, 6-2.
- Other ranked victories this season include wins over No. 33 (Ole Miss), No. 42 (South Carolina) and an impressive victory over the No. 9-ranked pairing from Florida.
- Ismail and Santos hold a 10-4 record in doubles this season, including 4-2 in conference play. They have faced eight consecutive ranked opponents, going 4-2 with two matches left unfinished.
Schroeder Stepping Up:
- Mizzou freshman Tate Schroeder (Centennial, Colo.) had an amazing weekend at the No. 3 spot, winning both of her matches, increasing her record in dual singles play to a team best 13-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
- After playing much of the non-conference schedule at No. 4, Schroeder moved up to No. 3 three weeks ago and has raised her game to meet the challenge. She has posted a 3-1 record since being moved up with her only loss coming to the No. 22 singles player in the country from Florida.
- Schroeder has 28 wins to her name this season during a stellar freshman campaign. She will look to keep that momentum going headed into the weekend.
Scouting No. 24 Tennessee
- Tennessee enters the weekend with a 15-8 record, 2-7 in conference play.
- The Volunteers are coming off of a 4-0 loss last weekend to Georgia.
- They are led by senior Brittany Lindl, who is ranked No. 58 in singles play this season with a 16-12 record.
Scouting No. 2 Georgia
- Georgia is coming off of a 4-0 victory over Tennessee to increase its season-long winning streak to seven matches.
- Georgia is the only team to defeat No. 1 Florida, doing so by a score of 4-1.
- The Bulldogs have five singles players and two doubles pairings in the rankings. They are headlined by freshman Eleni Christofi, coming in at No. 11 in the singles ranking. She has a 26-4 singles record this season and is ranked No. 28 in doubles play with her partner Kennedy Shaffer.
