Wright/Middlebrooks move to 14-3 on the year
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In its first competition on the road in six weeks, the Mizzou Tennis team dropped at 4-0 decision at No. 42 Texas A&M on Thursday afternoon.
For the third straight match, the Tigers (11-7, 0-4 SEC) won the first match of the day. This time, it was the duo of sophomore Mackenzy Middlebrooks (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and freshman Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.), who cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles. It's the pair's fourth 6-0 win of the season, with all four coming in dual-match play. The two are now 14-3 on the season, and 13-2 in dual matches (1-1 SEC).
The Aggies (11-4, 2-3) fought back to win the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 2, and a 7-6 (4) win at No. 1.
Play moved to the six singles matches, and Texas A&M was able to pick up straight-set wins at Nos. 1, 3 and 6 to clinch the match.
